noneIf you have heard the rumors, yes it’s true, I have gone and started another blog. I know, I know another baby is not what I really needed right now. It wasn’t really planned. It just sort of happened. The whole deal with my new stamp shop just got the ball rolling and once it started I couldn’t really stop it! I wanted a blogger blog because it seemed simpler and most all of my bloggy friends have blogger blogs sooooo…..and I know, just because all of my friends are doing it doesn’t mean I have to and, No, I would not jump off of a bridge if all my friends were doing that either! It just seemed like the best format for what I am doing with the whole paper arts thing. Anyway so now I have got this other blog which is strictly devoted to paper arts, stamping, scrapping, art journaling etc. I will keep this one going just for my paintings, robots and other musings! I hope you will enjoy both and as always I thank you, truly, for stopping by…kp
ps I will still have some tutorial here too but for paper related ideas and projects please visit kpink!
oneIn my last blog entry I posted the beginnings of my watercolor self portrait. I really liked what I was doing and had in mind what I was going to do with it. But, alas, my painting had a complete mind of it’s own, as I soon found out! LOL! Instead of getting stressed out about it, I decided to relax and have fun and enjoy what I was doing. I wanted to let the painting take me where it wanted and not force it into something just because I had a part of it completed. That was sort of hard, to let go of that image. But I figure I, can still do something with that later…..Here is my self portrait. It’s pretty much finished, though I may do a couple of small tweaks before our critique tomorrow. I am pretty happy with it but who would ever thought that my self portrait would be in black and white? I find that sort of ironic. Well, please tell my what you think

I know I haven’t posted much lately but I am now officially on Spring Break (hooray!) So I should be able to get some really juicy tutorials and artwork up here over the next week.!! I know that I usually have more ideas and aspirations than I have time, so I won’t make any grandiose promises LOL but I promise I have at least a couple cool things coming here from my drawing board! For now I will have to leave you with one of my new digi-stamp images. I had fun with these and am working on a few more…there will be 6 in all. Please visit my etsy shop to see the others that I have completed.

Just want to say thanks for all of the nice comments I have been receiving. I am really excited by the response to my new digi-stamp shop! I have so many projects that I want to do, I feel like I may burst! I think my new painting pretty much sums it up with the statement, “It’s all in your head”. This is something I did a few weeks ago, I consider it a sketch because it is still very much a work in progress!
peace.

noneI wish I had more time to put up some artwork and do a new tutorial because I have so many ideas swirling around in my head! Unfortunately for each idea I have, I also have some other task that needs my attention! So for now I have to be content with putting up a couple of new images! I may not be able to post anything for a couple of days, as I will be out of town visiting my college girl! When I get back I will put up something new and exciting!
Have a great weekend!
* I can’t wait to color these! Hopefully next week I will get the chance!
noneSo as you may or may not know, I have just opened my digi-stamp shop on Etsy (kristen powers ink)! I am really excited about this new shop and all the things I am planning! If you like card making and/or scrap booking ideas, please peek back in from time to time and see what I am making and dreaming up! I can’t wait to make some cards and do some painted and colored samples. Also, for those of you who like to hold a REAL stamp in your hand, I will be offering some limited editions of those soon too…right now I am just trying to get things posted and keep my head above water with school (mid-terms are coming up)! But I promise you will see some fun new stuff and tutorials soon. As always, thanks for visiting and looking at my art!
peace,
kristen
5 comGoing around in circles. Although that is how I feel some of the time, this is just another d.i.y. tutorial on how to make a cool pendant using my paper jewelry technique!
here are the items you will need:
1) Ink-redible fine-craft paper (you can use other types of heavy paper but this works the best!)
2) circle template
3) acrylic paint and/or acrylic ink
4) decoupage medium or paint on glaze
5) pencil, scissors, paintbrush, eyelet setter and hammer (to punch hole)
6) jump ring

Choose your paint colors (of course, let your imagination go wild here!) I used acrylic paint and acrylic ink. oh and I made a mess!

Once your piece is thoroughly dry give it a few coats of gloss, letting it dry in between coats. Do this to both the front and back.

After the gloss has dried completely, punch your hole. I use an eyelet setter. Make sure you punch approximately 1/8 of an inch down. Otherwise if you are too close to the edge it can split your paper. ALSO you may want to skip punching a hole altogether and use a glue on aarnraku type of bail. (note * a regular hole punch will not work when using this paper)

So my husband called when he was on his way home. “Hi honey. What are ya doin’ ?” He asked. I just laughed. He laughed too. “What?” He asked again. “What is it?” I couldn’t help it, I giggled some more. I felt silly saying what I was really doing. But I said it anyway. “I’m making a robot out of a matchbox”. He laughed harder. “Oh my little artist. You are too cute”! He is so sweet and understanding. How nice is it that he did not care one bit that my latest project (once again) took priority over making dinner ?!! I just love that my family gets the fact that a tiny wire bird cage, an experimental painting, a paper flower or, in this case, a robox is very urgent and needs my immediate attention!
I have to admit that I feel a bit crazy sometimes. I have had a little sketch of a robot on my desk for over two weeks and today I just couldn’t stand it any more. I had to make one. I wasn’t sure, when I started, how I was going to make it. At first, I kinda thought I would do it out of shrink plastic. Then I nixed that and started making one out of paper covered with foil. But then it just sort of evolved and ended up being made from an old ladies watch , a matchbox , some magnets and a few other bits I had laying around on my desk! I have to say, I am very pleased. Most likely I will do this as a tutorial one day but first I have to find another old watch….maybe I will even do some bigger ones, but then I will need an old clock. Meet my Robox…
So that’s my clever idea for tonight. I do believe you will see more of these soon (just need those old watches)!
peace, love and
kristen
