valentine angel pendant by me, kristen!

Here is another angel that I recently made as a paper pendant. I think she has such a sweet and angelic face! Sorry I don’t have much time to write tonight, weekdays are super busy for me now that school is back in full swing. I will post more this weekend….look for a new tutorial on Sunday night!

January 5th already? Is that even possible? Aargh! I start back to school in just 6 short days and my biggest consolation is that it will be summer in the blink of an eye…Well,  I know I have been remiss in my blogging but I have made a promise to myself that I would post something at least 4 times a week. Now I can’t say for sure what I will blog or how long the posts will be, but I am going to put something up to at least keep the visuals fresh. Of course my ultimate goal is to have a blog with tons of art and craft ideas and instructions along with interviews and pictures of great artists and craft-apreneurs. I hope to strive more towards those goals once I am finished with school. But in the meantime, I hope to continue to post my new art and chat about my oh-so-exciting- life!!!

TTFN,

kristen

I make these little whimsy-daisy-flower-pot magnets. Each one is different, as I cut the petals out paper, paint each pot and choose different beads for the center of each flower. I think they are really adorable and just looking at them, brightens my day a little! rowflowers2

These are fairly simple to make if you are good with an x-acto knife. If you don’t feel comfortable using an x-acto, or maybe you are making them with children, I am sure you could also use some cut outs that you make with craft punches! There are many variations that you could do with these by simply adding your own ideas and embellishments.

Well, I am back again after  a very long pause! I didn’t mean for it to be so long, I have just been so short on time with school starting (for both the kids and me). Besides that I have been getting ready for multiple shows and also super busy at the shop. (But I know I should still always try to find time for a quick blog)! Life definitely does not always go as smoothly as one hopes or plans, that’s for sure. So anyway, even though I have not been here to tell you about the new things I am creating, I have been busily making and developing new things to share and to post. I am super excited by my recent purchase of a book binding machine (got a killer deal on Craig’s List). Needless to say, I am now making hand painted/made journals. Here are a few:3journalsAnother new thing I have put together (and I am so excited about these too) are DIY paper jewelry kits:

kit1kit2These kits include 2 paper disks, a bale/pinback, “25 inch piece of leather cord and full color basic instructions on how to make your own pendant/pin. They are available for $6.00 plus shipping in my Etsy shop! I will be demonstrating and selling at Green Tree Festival in Kirkwood Park Sept. 19th and 20th in booth #123 -not the best spot in the park, so please come find me! (Mention my blog and get a surprise!)

So, these are a couple of things I have been doing lately, besides eating bon bons :)

getting ready for Festival of the Little Hill...

Here is a pic of some of what I have been doing. Getting ready for the Festival this weekend! I, of course, wish I had more time but I ALWAYS wish that!! I have been making lots of new things and still have a zillion ideas running around my brain, not to mention a list about a foot long of things I still want to make. Here is a couple things that are in the works: Blank journals, a coloring book, DIY paper Jewelry kits and how-to video. Yeah I know I’ve been saying that I am going to do a video for about a year now, but I REALLY am going to do it! It just takes a lot longer than anticipated,! The DIY kits are actually IN the works now so I hope to have everything ready to go at one time. I am thinking about two or three weeks….I guess we’ll see. :) I am now offering the paper disks in my Etsy shop to make your own pendant/pin and that will come with written instructions. I think the video will be so great though, because I will share lots of ideas for different techniques. With Festival this weekend and school stating Monday, I don’t know how if I will have much time to post (or much time to do ANYTHING!!) but I will try to, at least, get some photos up and give a quick update! Needless to say, with all that’s going on, I have not been so good at my food and exercise plan :( but I am still not giving up! I hope that once I get back to classes and I get into a routine with the kids, that I can start over and still try to work on meeting my goals. it just seems like with the busy-ness of life, SOMEthing’s gotta give. Well, I am back to the ‘drawing board’-going to go make more stuff!

So, have you heard of  iwearyourshirt.com? Well if you haven’t, definitely check it out. It’s marketing genius at it’s finest. It is just such a super cool, fun way to advertise and network. I came across it just recently and besides thinking it is brilliant, really wanted to advertise my business on this guys chest! What he (his name is Jason Sadler) does is rent out his body (from the waist up) for advertising space. In other words,  Jason wears your shirt. He rents it on a daily basis and then he goes all over the place filming it, taking pictures and then blogging about it. The pricing is pretty cool too. Starting on January 1st it was $1.oo and everyday the price goes up by one dollar, so by the last day in December it is $365.00.

Well, like I said I just found iwearyourshirt a few days ago (twittering) and I really, really wanted a space on Jason’s chest. He only had 2 days left, the weekend after Christmas. I was really debating whether to do it. I figured if I stayed in my indecisive stupor those last spots might get snatched up from under my nose. So I did it! I reserved the day after Christmas. And now HE’S GONNA WEAR MY SHIRT! I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about this as December draws closer :)
