I am loving making atc’s (they are the same as aceo’s …the acronyms stand for artist trading cards and/or art card editions & originals) they are small, about the size of a business card and so gratifying! If you go to Etsy and just search for atc or aceo you will come up with many of these treasures by wonderful artists! They are lovely and affordable and I just love ‘em!

I have been making these babies a lot lately because they really fit into my time schedule and they give me the opportunity to experiment with some of my sketches and also different mediums.

I would LOVE to get a swap going so if anyone is interested PLEASE send me a message! :)

I know I have been remiss in posting here and I feel guilt ridden! My ‘other’ blog and my new paper craft planet group has been taking any ‘extra’ time that I have. I still want to keep this blog to post my thoughts, art and tutorials that are not stamp related, but lately I am just so busy trying to finish up the semester. Just two more weeks!!

Well here is an elephant tea pot that I made in my ceramics class. I think it turned out cute but I have to be honest, I’m not too good at making lids! LOL So I will NOT be pouring tea from it!

If you have heard the rumors, yes it’s true, I have gone and started another blog. I know, I know another baby is not what I really needed right now. It wasn’t really planned. It just sort of happened. The whole deal with my new stamp shop just got the ball rolling and once it started I couldn’t really stop it! I wanted a blogger blog because it seemed simpler and most all of my bloggy friends have blogger blogs sooooo…..and I know, just because all of my friends are doing it doesn’t mean I have to and, No, I would not jump off of a bridge if all my friends were doing that either!  It just seemed like the best format for what I am doing with the whole paper arts thing. Anyway so now I have got this other blog which is strictly devoted to paper arts, stamping, scrapping, art journaling etc. I will keep this one going just for my paintings, robots and other musings! I hope you will enjoy both and as always I thank you, truly, for stopping by…kp

ps I will still have some tutorial here too but for paper related ideas and projects please visit kpink!

In my last blog entry I posted the beginnings of my watercolor self portrait. I really liked what I was doing and had in mind what I was going to do with it. But, alas, my painting had a complete mind of it’s own, as I soon found out!  LOL! Instead of getting stressed out about it, I decided to relax and have fun and enjoy what I was doing. I wanted to let the painting take me where it wanted and not force it into something just because I had a part of it completed. That was sort of hard, to let go of that image. But I figure I, can still do something with that later…..Here is my self portrait. It’s pretty much finished, though I may do a couple of small tweaks before our critique tomorrow. I am pretty happy with it but who would ever thought that my self portrait would be in black and white? I find that sort of ironic. Well, please tell my what you think :)

"Every problem has a gift for you in it's hands". -R. Bach

I am working on a self portrait for my painting class. Since it doesn’t have to be an actual portrait or image of my likeness,  I thought a hand was very appropriate. Not only do I work with my hands, but I work on hands too. I have been a licensed manicurist for over 25 years! It’s weird, but I just have a thing for hands. I mean, I think you can tell a lot about a person by their hands. Anyway, this is just a portion of the painting that I am working on. I will post it when it is finished….well I would love to write more and tell you all about my new blog and creative adventure…I would LOVE to tell you about all of the wonderful artists that will be joining me for my first-ever design team and I would love to list all of the fabulous tutorials that I will be posting! But, alas, I am off to class now so you will just have to come back and visit  starting April 4th!!

I don’t want you all to think that I have forgotten about my blog! It is not as neglected as it may seem…”behind the scenes” I am working everyday on putting something new and exciting together! It is just taking so much time that I cannot do my normal posts and tutorials on this site. But PLEASE come take a look on APRIL 4th to see what all the fuss is about!! It is my birthday celebration and I have lots of  friends that will be helping me celebrate and share fun stuff with you too! In the meantime, here is some new artwork to brighten up your day! xo kp

Hello. Were you wondering if I fell off the face of the earth? Nope. I ‘m still here! I, as usual, have been super busy. But good busy and happy busy! I promise I have been working on making new art and cool new stuff to share!

I have big changes and updates:

First of all, I’ve been listing new stamp images like a mad woman in my etsy stamp shop and it’s really coming along! I have the first sets of clear stamps too. The sample stamps are already in and for sale in my shop! The biggest news though,  is that I am getting ready to launch a new blog! It will pretty much take the place of this one. I am doing this for a couple of reasons… I wanted to switch to a Google blogger account and I wanted to actually have the name kristenpowersink.

It may take a while for the actual switch but I am working diligently and I have a couple of GREAT and EXCITING things to introduce to you when I actually make the change!

In the meantime, keep checking in. I am going to post a new tutorial here within the next few days….

i see good things in the future....

awww I can’t believe spring break is over already. I know I say it way too often, but time just flies…at supersonic speed!! Of course I didn’t get nearly as much done as I had hoped. My ambitions and self-expectations always seem to exceed my time, and I always think that I am going to have more (time) than I ever actually do! Drats. So, I guess you notice that I did not get too many fabulous tutorials up here over the past week. I am still working on it though.  I have been up to my eyeballs in projects around here. My workspace looks like a cyclone hit it and I have stacks of sketches everywhere! What I would not give for another week of “break”…

I hope it does not sound like complaining. Because I really don’t want for it to seem like that. I am happier than a clam being busy with projects and making stuff! It is frustrating when you just feel like you can’t ever get everything done that you want to do! I tell ya, sleeping and eating really takes up way too much time! LOL  Anyway. I suppose there is always tomorrow to get back to my to do list…

For now I am just going to leave you with a new image that I just digitally colored for my kristenpowersink site. I really am liking this one and thought you might too.

…like I need a hole in my head! But I just can’t seem to help myself! As many of you may (or may not) know, I have opened a new stamp shop on Etsy (kristenpowersink). For the past couple of weeks I have been busily adding digital ’stamp’ images*  to download and use in your own art and craft creations.  I not only want to offer digi-stamps but clear stamps and  hand carved stamps too. So I, of course, had to start carving as soon as I had a free moment (which happened to be this morning at 5 a.m.)! Please visit my shop to see my new, one-of-a-kind designs. I probably will just put these up as the mood strikes! Here is one of my  hand carved babies…

one-of-a-kind hand carved rubber stamp by me, kristen!

If you love stamps please visit my Etsy shop and here on my blog often. I have new designs every day and my line of clear stamps will be added very soon too! They are going to production as I write this!

*digital stamps, for those of you who may not know (and I didn’t even know myself until recently…) are images that are sent to you via email. It is great because you can print them over and over again and even re- size  as needed to suit your project. It is not a “traditional” stamping but getting your images this way definitely has it’s benefits. I will have some tutorials here very soon on digi-stamping and, you know, other stuff too!

TTFN and as always thanks for looking at my blog and my art!
